Laura McChristian has spent more than thirty years proving that rock and roll and higher education can coexist quite nicely—preferably at high volume.
A professional musician, educator, and lifelong storyteller, Laura holds a master’s degree in Music Education and a PhD in Educational Technology. For ten years, she fronted her own band, Ms Mac and the Groovetones, playing bass and singing lead while earning the distinction of being voted Number One Rock Chick in Arkansas—a title she still considers considerably cooler than anything printed on a diploma.
These days, Laura is Gigi to twelve grandchildren and is counting down the final three years until what she insists will be real retirement. She lives in Texarkana, Arkansas, where she has achieved two essential lifelong ambitions: her own library and her own DJ booth. Both contain entirely too much music, too many books, and absolutely no regrets.
The Rockin’ Heaven Down Series has been part of Laura’s imagination in one form or another since 1985, when its characters and stories first began taking shape against the soundtrack of the decade that inspired them. Forty-plus years later, they apparently still aren’t finished with her. The series remains an ever-evolving work in progress—because in rock and roll, there is always another song, another show, and another story waiting backstage.
When she isn’t hanging out with rock stars—fictional or otherwise—Laura also writes the C-Watch Supernatural Crime Series under the pen name J. Cyprus DeLaure, proving that when guitars, grandkids, education, technology, supernatural crime, and an overflowing personal library aren't enough, the obvious solution is to write another book.
