Yolanda Lopez-Rettew

Author of LEFT SHOE RIGHT SHOE, my first picture book that introduces the concept of left and right to young children. I began writing in 2004 after taking on the role as a new mom where I witnessed firsthand how reading great books not only impacted my son's development but also inspired his own love of reading. Those first years with my son sparked the beginning of my interest in writing and promoting children's books. As an author, my goal is to develop charming books that teach something in new and interesting ways to young children and to help get quality books in the hands of all children.

Born and raised in Texas, I have lived in southern California since 1997. I'm an avid supporter of children's reading programs and child advocacy programs and a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). My hobbies include reading, painting, photography and sports (especially hiking and pickleball). I love spending time with my son and close friends, visiting family in Texas whenever I can, staying active, and meeting regularly with my book club. I'm currently working on a second children's book and look forward to seeing it published in the near future.
