LEONEL VILLA-CABALLERO M.D. , Ph.D. FACP

Dr Villa-Caballero is a physician- researcher with training in Internal medicine, Endocrinology and Public Health. He is a clinical researcher and currently the Director of Clinical Research Certificate Program for Latin America at University of California San Diego. Dr Villa-Caballero's career has been devoted to medical education in the U.S. and Mexico and to developing culturally -appropriate interventions for minority groups. While completing his postdoctoral studies at the department of Preventive Medicine at UCSD School of Medicine, he developed his research projects in the areas of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular prevention, particularly for Latinos living in the United States. In addition, Dr Villa-Caballero has served as Latino director of the non-profit organization "Taking Control of your Diabetes" (TCOYD) providing education and motivation to patients struggling with diabetes, since 2003. He is a frequent lecturer on issues related to diabetes-obesity, health disparities among Hispanics and global health.He lives in San Diego,California
