The reality of being overweight and unhealthy has surrounded me all my
life. From my most early memories I remember many of my friends and
family living unhealthy lifestyles. My interest in health and fitness blossomed from an early age but I never had all the tools given to me to develop myself. It was at 31years old that I finally gave myself to healthy living. What I discovered was far more than I had set out to achieve. Not only did I free my body from almost 100 pounds of unnecessary fat-I discovered a new way of life! I learned that I DO have enough time for my husband and five children as well as having enough time to get fit and stay healthy. I discovered that fitness is not the strict treadmill and workout videos that housewives often fall victim to.
After earning my diploma in herbal medicine I began my own fitness journey. With my success story in hand, I set out to change the lives of family and friends around me. Because of my desire to disband the trends in society associated with obesity and unfit behavior, I earned a certificate in personal training from the International Sports Science Association so I could show people how they, too, can burn fat away and change their lives forever. I later earned certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine as well as with the United States Navy. I worked with the US Navy as a fitness specialist, helping to keep sailors physically fit. I was also able to work with the families of the enlisted helping spouses and children find their enjoyment in a fitness lifestyle.
It is my professional passion to teach people that health and fitness is not about self deprivation but more about self discovery. I want to spread my story and give people the tools they need as individuals to fight obesity as well as embracing health and living with fitness in their lives. As part of my repertoire, I am the author of several holistic health and fitness articles and co-author to Squeaky Gourmet; a fitness based cookbook. In the future, my goals include further fitness certification in nutrition as well as in more specific areas of training to round out my message of hope and belief that personal goals can be achieved. I hope to bring fitness into the mainstream with my book Squeaky Gourmet. For personal goals I plan on pursuing more strength based fitness aspects and to compete in strength related events. I now have 3 NH records for Strongman meets and will be training more for this sport.
