James Jefferson ("Jeff") Broome is a 5th generation native Coloradan. Born in Pueblo in 1952, Jeff moved to Littleton in 1962. Attended Arapahoe High School and St. John's Military School in Salina, KS. BS from CSU, Pueblo, 1975; MA, Baylor University, 1976; PhD at CU, Boulder in 1998. Degrees were in philosophy and psychology. Children, Christina Clonts, David, Evan, and Kile Broome. Dog Soldier Justice was originally published in 2003, Nebraska University Press taking it over in 2009. In 2009 Custer into the West was published (Upton and Sons, Publishers), and also David Hume's New Scene of Thought (edited). Professor Emeritus of Philosophy from state college in Metro Denver. Also worked several years with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department, and The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Denver, six years as Chaplain and Clinical Director. My interests in Indian war history goes back to childhood. In 2013 I published Cheyenne War Indian Raids on the Roads to Denver, 1864-1869 (Aberdeen Books and Logan County Historical Society). In 2020 I published Indian Raids and Massacres Essays on the Central Plains Indian War (Caxton Press). Numerous articles published in various historical journals/magazines, private historical societies, etc. Living in Beulah, Colorado since 2016.
