Five years ago, Shannon Hammer went in search of a book that didn't exist.

Having been overweight all her life, she had embarked on a diet-and-exercise program. Knowing that keeping a daily written food journal was critical to achieving and maintaining weight loss success, she wanted a book that provided space to write down her daily food plan while offering encouragement to keep her motivated to stay on track. Although she found food diaries and meditation books, she did not find one that combined both.

So she decided to write it.

The end result is The Positive Portions Food & Fitness Journal. It is a one-of-a-kind book that gives users the practicality of a food diary with the inspiration of a daily book of wisdom. It is her first book.

Today Shannon is maintaining an over 100-pound weight loss. She currently lives in Redondo Beach, California, with her husband Mark. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, writing fiction, and going to the beach, where she now wears a bathing suit at a public level.

She continues to write her food down on a daily basis.
