P.A . Corky Gillis
Corky was born and raised in Central Kentucky. He now resides in Pinehurst, NC with wife Kristen and continues consulting with high net worth clients for life insurance. An advanced planning specialist for nearly 35 years, he also works with many Financial Advisors and Insurance professionals throughout the US.
In addition to Life Insurance brokerage, he is an instrument/multi-engine rated private pilot, owner of Gillis Publications, LLC, co-owner of AMLI, LLC, (Active Management of Life Insurance Services.) He has completed both the Chicago and Columbus Marathons and currently plays golf in Pinehurst, NC at CCNC. In his twin engine Piper Seneca, he travels extensively to the out islands of the Bahamas. Learning of the devastating cocaine drug culture of the 70s and 80s in the small Bahama islands, this became a large part of his motivation to write.
For the last 30 years his business has specialized in high net worth clients over the age of 70. During the early 1990s he began working with Viaticals and Life Settlements. An extensive reader on the secondary market for life insurance, Corky possess a deep street level knowledge of the evolution from Viatical to Life Settlements and then into STOLI, or STranger Originated (owned) Life Insurance.
In 2000, federal agents, including the FBI, raided the Lexington, KY headquarters of a Viatical and Life Settlement provider. More than 600 boxes of evidence were seized. Described as a "huge multi million dollar Fraud scheme", 3 executives were convicted on all 46 counts of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.
Corky then began exploring the idea of a fictional story about Life Settlements and what could go drastically wrong if personal information were to get in to the 'wrong hands'.
The Death Bond Conspiracy, self published in Jan. 2009, is an entertaining and purely fictional story woven around the almost sub culture and once secretive world of STOLI. In a country where organized crime is a real and recognized power, perhaps we should be more concerned about the incredible number of life policies now investor and foreign owned. Many insured, who have sold their contracts, still receive that annual call; "So, how are you feeling?"
He has reviewed many different Stranger Owned Life Insurance and Investor Owned Life Insurance 'Schemes' and found the 'common thread' of agents and brokers driven by greed for incredible life insurance commission opportunities.
His extensive history and knowledge of life insurance reviews led to creation of AMLI a proprietary-forensic life insurance review and policy management service. He has become recognized as one of the foremost authorities for life insurance utilization...and abuse.
