All my life I have had a passion for animals as well as a strong inclination to write. When my son, Blaine, rescued Sadie, a mixed breed 10-week-old puppy on Christmas Day, 2006, I had the incredible compulsion to combine these two passions and give Sadie's cause a voice. The books, SADIE MAE BAIRD ..., followed. I like to think that these books are our "crumbs offered to the table of life."

Sadie indeed is an exceptional creature. She is one of the most affectionate animals I have ever shared my life-space with and I have raised critters like lop-ear rabbits to Suffolk sheep and everything in between. While Sadie continues to gain trust, she still demonstrates that she suffered greatly during those first few weeks of her life. Despite that experience she's determined to remain loyal and steadfast in her effort to create strong cohesive community. She builds independent relationships with neighbors, she constantly offers affection to family, she's obviously a very old soul.

The books are real-life stories about actual animals and events wherein humans and animals have joined together to create a rich life experience. For too long humans have maintained an arrogance that the Earth and all her beautiful resources are theirs to exploit. Sadie shares the concepts of genuine love, loyalty and laughter that animals employ every moment of every day as she encourages readers to awaken to the marvel of miracles swirling round about us. These books can be enjoyed by children from ages 8 to 88.
