John Derrick

John Derrick is a California attorney with a solo practice focused exclusively on appeals and related matters. He is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a Specialist in Appellate Law.

He received his undergraduate degree in Britain at the University of Oxford and his law degree at the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law.

Before entering the legal profession, he co-founded, operated, and eventually sold two niche information publishing businesses in the UK and US. He also served as Special Adviser to the Energy Secretary in the British cabinet. He has previously written several books on subjects related to information technology.

He lives in Santa Barbara, California, with his wife and two children. He is an eager traveler, who has visited 82 countries and is aiming for 100.
