Stephen Irving Max Schwab
Born in Springfield, Missouri, in December 1942, Stephen Schwab graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned both an A.B. and an M.A. in History. After teaching college for a year, he joined the Central Intelligence Agency in 1967, where he served for 32 years working mainly as a political analyst on Latin American Issues. From 1995 to 1999, he was assigned to Maxwell Air Force Base where he taught at the Air War College and also earned a second M.A. in Military History from the University of Alabama. In 2000, he moved to Tuscaloosa to work towards a PhD in History, which he received in 2007. His book "Guantánamo, U.S.A." is based on extensive research both in the United States and in Cuba.
