Maxim Shrayer

Maxim D. Shrayer (Russian spelling: Максим Д. Шраер) was born in Moscow in 1967 and immigrated to the United States in 1987. He is Professor of Russian, English, and Jewish Studies at Boston College. Among Shrayer's books are "Leaving Russia: A Jewish Story," "Waiting for America: A Story of Emigration," "Yom Kippur in Amsterdam," "A Russian Immigrant" and "Voices of Jewish-Russian Literature." Shrayer edited and cotranslated four books of fiction by his father, David Shrayer-Petrov. A bilingual author and translator, Shrayer won a 2007 National Jewish Book Award and received a 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife and two daughters.
