Monty was born in India and migrated to the US in 1986 on a full grant to study at the University of Pennsylvania.

He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Pennsylvania (1990) and after working for 4 years in the software industry, he went back to school and received an MBA degree, with concentrations in Finance and Business Economics, from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business (1996).

Monty joined Bankers Trust in New York as a risk manager in 1996 and then moved to Hong Kong with Bankers Trust in 1997 to trade currencies and currency options. In 1998 he moved to Barclays Capital in Tokyo to further expand his horizons and traded interest rates and derivatives across the Asian markets.

Owing to his successful stint and after only 3 years in the financial industry he was offered a position as a Managing Director and Head of Asian Interest Rates Trading at BNP Paribas in Singapore in 2000.

Monty returned to the US and launched his hedge fund Predator Global Master Fund in 2004. The fund was nominated as the Best New Asian Hedge Fund and Best Asian Relative Value Hedge Fund, 2005 by Eurekahedge and Terrapinn and had a profitable track record when it was sold in September 2006.

Monty then served as a portfolio manager for III Funds, a $5 billion hedge fund before starting MACM LLC in 2009.
