Randy Cassingham

Randy Cassingham is an American syndicated columnist, humorist, publisher, and speaker, and formerly was on the engineering staff of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

Cassingham is the author of the weekly news feature "This is True" (founded online in 1994), one of the first commercial email newsletters on the Internet. (In January 1997, an expanded paid version became one of the first paid email newsletters on the Internet.) It is still published weekly, and each year's stories are collected into book form.

Randy bills This is True as "Thought-Provoking Entertainment". "Who wants to read it if it's not entertaining?" he asks. "But once you do, you can't help but to start thinking about some of the issues raised."

Randy is also the Founder of the "True Stella Awards" (founded 2002), a web site dedicated to exploring frivolous legal cases. The site was expanded into a 2005 book of the same name, published by Dutton, an imprint of the Penguin Group.

Randy has been the keynote speaker at several of The Skeptics Society's annual conferences, and has spoken at several Mensa Gatherings -- he and his wife, Kit, are life members of Mensa. They live in rural Western Colorado, where they are volunteer Medics for their area.
