Mike Matson

Mike Matson is outdoor writer and photographer living in Salt Lake City. He grew up in Seattle, where he developed a strong connection with the outdoors. During his senior year at Western Washington University Mike took a outdoor photography class that changed his life. Sharing his outdoor adventures with a larger audience through writing and photography became his central focus. He has since followed his passion for adventure journalism all over the American West and around the world, selling his work to magazines such as National Geographic Adventure, Backpacker, Canoe and Kayak, Northwest Travel, and Utah Adventure Journal. His favorite part of being a professional writer is the adventures he gets himself into in the name of work. During the summer of 2007, Mike and his wife Sonja paddled sea kayaks 1,200 nautical miles from Seattle Washington to Juneau, Alaska.
