I have had a burning passion for journalism and creative writing ever since my high school days when I ran an addressograph machine and bundled newspapers for delivery to the post office . The stipend I received was rather meager; the reward—publication of features and news stories that I wrote—was cherished.

That beginning launched a career that included writing and publishing both print and e-books, ghost-writing, placing articles in periodicals from coast to coast and rising from a beat reporter to the position of Publisher of major daily newspapers.

I chose to attend Columbja College because of its location in Manhattan, the center of American journalism and publishing at that time. The decision bore fruit in my sophomore year when I was hired by the Journal-American to work as a reporter on the lobster shift while completing my education. I went on to obtain my Master’s Degree at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.

During my years in active daily journalism, I advanced from beat reporter through the usual steps to executive positions as CEO of the Garden State Newspapers and finally as Publisher/President of the Alameda Newspaper Group, California’s largest group of dailies.

Since leaving to pursue a freelance career, I have served as consultant to a variety of specialty magazines and newspapers. More than 750 of my articles have appeared in magazines and newspapers spanning the country from the LA Times on the West Coast to the NY Times in the East. My digital writing experience includes publishing my own weekly blog and serving as a Platinum Expert Writer at Ezinearticles.com. Articles of mine have been published on top digital readers.

I have ghost-written eight nonfiction books. Under my own name, I have published one novel. My latest nonfiction book, The Writer Within You, has been named a Best Book of the Year by seven organizations and has won both gold and bronze medals.

In addition to those honors, my writing has received numerous awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, Working Press Association, the New Jersey Press Club, Florida Publishers Association and the North American Travel Journalists Association.

I have taught classes in magazine writing, instructed in writing and publishing at the University of South Florida and served as guest speaker for a variety of organizations and at writer's conferences sponsored by the National Writers Association and the Florida Writers Association.
