The Lock, Frank's first novel, was published in 2003 and the digital edition reached the finals of the Independent e-Book Awards in Santa Barbara.

Frank is a creative writing tutor at Oxford University, teaching on graduate and undergraduate courses. He is also librarian of the Bodleian Latin American Centre Library and Operations Manager at the Taylor Institution Library. From 1995-2008 he reviewed fiction for newspapers, including the Times, Financial Times and TLS. He read English at Keble College. He is a member of the Society of Authors and AWP and was chair of Writers in Oxford from 2008-2010 (http://www.writersinoxford.org).

Frank grew up in rural Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and originally trained as a chartered surveyor and land agent. He intended to become a farmer but due to changes in his family's circumstances this dream did not happen.
