Yolanda T. Marshall

Yolanda T. Marshall is a Guyanese-born, Bajan-heritage Canadian author and columnist celebrated for her vibrant, inclusive children’s books. Since beginning her publishing journey in 2008 and signing a multi-book deal in 2019, she has become a traditionally published, agented author of over twenty four titles. Her book Brown Girl in the Snow was named one of CBC’s and The Globe and Mail’s Best Children’s Books of 2025 and won two American literary awards in 2026. Her honours include the 2025 Jonesy’s Literary Hero Award, Guyana’s 60th Independence Celebration Education Excellence Award, the 2023 My People Award, the 2022 Loop Caribbean Author of the Year Award, recognition among Canada’s 100 Accomplished Black Women, and a City of Toronto–Scarborough recognition. She also serves as columnist and editor of Lit Corner for Caribbean Camera and reaches over 50,000 students annually through school visits.
