Author, Allysha L. Hamber

Allysha L. Hamber was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. Allysha is an established Author, with nine titles under her literary belt. Ms. Hamber is a self-published author, who set out to use her own personal experiences to help troubled youth and women to overcome the struggles of a troubled past & present. With titles such as, “Unlovable & Unlovable 2” the semi-biographical novels which tells the graphic details of abuse, molestation and teenage prostitution Ms. Hamber’s writing is helping to heal a troubled world.

At the age of sixteen, Ms. Hamber found herself living on the streets of St. Louis and eventually forced into teenage prostitution. Yet, Allysha managed to still obtain her GED from St. Louis Job Corps in 1995. Graduating on the Dean’s Honor Roll from Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS with an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Allysha thought she was finally past the negative era in her life. At the age of twenty-six, Allysha found herself in custody in the Federal Prison System. It was inside the solitude of the institution, that Allysha began sharing her past of emotional, physical and sexual abuse with the women of the institution. It was her fellow inmates that both encouraged and inspired Allysha to share her testimony with the world through writing.

Released from prison in 2004, Allysha released, “Keep It On the Down Low” and now has eight self-published novels. She is currently working in the administrative field. Ms. Hamber has now stretch her God given talents to the genre of stage plays, with “Unlovable,” a play based off of the novel, “Unlovable,” which hit the stage in September 2010 and completed a four city tour.

Ms. Hamber has graduated St. Louis Community College with another Degree in General Studies. Allysha has become a voice to abused women across the Metropolitan Area, giving workshops at several Public High Schools, women shelters and Juvenile Detention facilities.. She has appeared on St. Louis TV 10, featured in the St. Louis American, Foxy 95.5 FM spotlight along with several magazines and radio interviews. Allysha has begun a tour of several public speaking engagements at The St. Louis Public Library, St. Louis Job Corps, St. Louis Work House Detention Facility, St. Louis Public Schools and Drug Rehabilitation Centers.

Ms. Hamber has volunteered her time and dedicated her life to helping others, with annual toy drives for inner city children, clothing and coat drives, toiletry drives for local schools in order for the nurses offices to remain stocked to care for the personal hygiene needs of the students.

Ms. Hamber continues to work towards her given destiny of helping others to heal and learn from her trials and tribulations. With her mind heart and soul fixed on being the open passageway to strength, courage and overcoming, Ms. Hamber continues to rise to the top.
