Michelle Buckley

Michelle Buckley has wanted to be a writer since she was a kid. She enjoys telling entertaining and empowering stories that celebrate women's strength and ability to persevere. She is a novelist/screenwriter with a background in television and radio journalism/production. She's worked as a producer, copywriter, reporter and publicist for several organizations.

She's written two novels: TRIPPIN' and BULLETPROOF SOUL. Prior to her fiction writing, Michelle wrote freelance articles for publications like Black Enterprise Magazine and the Kansas City Business Journal. She was also included in the #1 Essence bestseller Souls of My Sisters. As a result of her writing, Black Issues Book Review Magazine named Michelle an up-and-coming writer -- a 'fresh breeze' and she's received a Blackrefer.com Reviewer's Choice Award in the category of General Fiction.

In addition to writing fiction novels, Michelle has written four screenplays -- including one about organ donors who fall in love, another about a female Scrooge who's forced to renounce her holiday-hating ways, and yet another that's a modern-day retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Plus, she's written BUFFALO GAL, a female Civil War biopic, which placed as a Quarterfinalist in the Cynosure Screenwriting Awards Competition and a Semifinalist in the Bluecat Screenplay Competition. As a result of BUFFALO GAL, Michelle also placed as a Semifinalist (Top 6% -- 33/500) for Universal Pictures' Emerging Writers Fellowship Program during the program's inaugural year.
