JS Moore

Public servant and Renaissance man JS Moore resides in the Volunteer State with his blue heeler and his precious son Z. While serving in the United States Army as a military police officer in Puerto Rico Moore was first introduced to Hunter S. Thompson and says it was almost like looking into a mirror, but without the recreational ____. "Seems my high was always a natural one and gathering and collecting stories from folks suited me if I was helping them in some way," noted the author in an interview from 2013.

After military service Moore returned to Tennessee and matriculated at Northeast State Community College then studied English and history at East Tennessee State University to become a high school professor. Realizing he could not stick to a syllabus and would not be allowed to teach actual objective history and critical thinking, Moore continued to work in various service industries like hospitality and furniture. Valet work and being a bellman at three different high end hotels led him to lifelong friendships with judges, architects and even the CEO of a company left anonymous here. While living paycheck to paycheck to support a growing family JS began to write down his first collection of true anecdotes about east Tennessee from the commoner's perspective and not the status quo. This gained him a readership that has stuck with him through now forty one published works.

His first book, Understanding Apples is about the Long Island Community of Kingsport, Tennessee and first released in October of 2006 to positive reviews.

Other nonfiction books followed, including the biography of a criminal defense attorney and works about street character and local prophet.

Outside Kitty is Moore's first children's book. It would debut #1 on the bestseller lists and is now available in several other languages. Other children's books followed, including Wee Willard Tremble and Under the Sun: The Miyamoto Musashi Story.

JS Moore enjoys being co-founder of the Fjordtown Friars Fellowship Foundation - a hiking group geared toward service veterans that finds therapy in the mountains. His recently released Shifting Cairns is the sixth book in the Understanding Apples Series.
