His book, “About the U.S. Coast Guard” is a word search book written to educate the public and potential new members to the United States Coast Guard. He began this book after surviving his second stroke. He began self-care with cognitive exercises and puzzles. After moving through stroke recovery, he reached out to the Coast Guard about a book intended to support Coast Guard recruiting initiatives. As a proud retiree of the Coast Guard, he sees this latest book as an opportunity to support a service that provided him a successful career, and helped support his family.
Always on the go and focusing on making a difference, his earlier book is, "Covered From Above - A Shield From Injury or Death". This book is a true story of a life that started poorly. Before his first two-years of life, there were three attempts to kill him. Growing up in an uncertain and violent environment, living in a state of fear became easy. As a young boy, he had a close encounter with a rattlesnake. Later in life, a gunman at the front door, a helicopter accident in the jungle, 20-minutes in a car with a serial killer, being rear-ended by an 18-wheeler, and more.
