Unique discoveries in primary sources compelled J. K. Brandau to write two information-rich histories.
Brandau was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in that city's Southside. The life-long Civil War buff and eleventh generation Virginian graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He retired in 2017 as lead chemist for Newport News Shipbuilding. His forty-five-year laboratory career supported nuclear ship construction and included chemical analyses of USS Monitor artifacts for preservation by the Mariner's Museum.
Fascination with history propelled personal research on three continents. Brandau has authored scores of privately shared monographs, some of which appeared in newsletters, magazines, and historical society journals.
