I'm a retired Navy officer with a background in antisubmarine warfare and a Surface Warfare designator, a black belt in Isshinryu karate, and a lawyer licensed in Tennessee and California. There might just be a pattern to that sequence of careers, you think?

Despite all that -- or perhaps because of it -- my one true calling is to tell stories. Big stories, about worlds in chaos. Small stories, about dogs on a mission to find the true meaning of Christmas. And lately, stories about our world and how we see it -- or how we don't.
