Dave grew up in a blue-collar Ohio environment with limited income but a wealth of love. Early jobs included assisting with custodial work while still in middle school and working on a factory assembly line. Starting with a scholarship to Phillips Academy Andover, he then attended some of the world's wealthiest schools, and became keenly aware of social dynamics that affect all of us.
A lifelong student of human behavior, personal development, and well being, Dave earned a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University, an M.A. in Community Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University, and life coaching certification through the Institute for Life Coach Training.
Alongside participating in various workshops and trainings on awareness, authenticity, sensuality, sexuality, and personal growth, he has worked on a number of projects related to social, ecological, and economic sustainability, and health and well being.
Dave guides others to create happier and more powerful lives through his life coaching practice. He encourages them to recognize their strengths, gifts, and growth opportunities, and to credit themselves for successes both small and large. He is also an award-winning author of several books.
He also enjoys snuggle parties, cooking and baking (especially anything involving chocolate and waffles), composing dance music, beatboxing (creating rhythm and percussion with the mouth), gardening, hiking, and running in nature. He previously bicycled across the United States for charity, and has interests in sustainable communities that transform our connections with food, energy, and one another.
