My growing up story:---I was born April 28th 1955 in the former- Coatesville
Hospital. Today it's-- Harrison House.
In a rural setting of West Brandywine Township.
I attended - all public schools- beginning -First class-- first year-(1960-61) at Friendship Elementary. It was in a brand new building not yet having the cafeteria finished. In later years I became involved in after school functions at home. In sports, I ran the 440 - Track& Field for -North Brandywine Junior High. ( My grandfather on my mom's side, sponsored me for church, summer school & scouts). Involved with tons of things, Any free time was spent in the neighboring woods & Fields. I walk and hiked just about everywhere local. I had one time or another every conceivable pet. Dogs, cats, rabbits. -Sometimes-- Racing pigeons were given to me by my dad. I loved some of the wild creatures--Garter snakes, insects to Salimanders, I use to spend hours looking for frogs and turtles. Some times --I'd spend hours in the heat of summer on the opposite side of our property in a stream fishing. It was a tributary of the Brandywine. I'd sometimes walk north to a farm about 6 miles away owned then by my grandparents -on Lafayette Road. My Grandpop --left me attempt horse back riding and the milking of a live cow. Also during these times They raised live stock. Born into what was an ugly-- family divorce environment. I was afforded everything imaginable as the first surviving grandson. Microscopes, Erector sets, Chemistry sets. Telescopes, Radio building kits and tons of cool things. Mother would give me money on Saturday to see a movie at our local town theatre. Cowboy flicks were frequent. I would opt out finding them sort boring . Walk to town, change streets and spend the afternoon in the Public library. I still to this day love and frequent quite often.I love swimming and sometimes going bowling.
I attended Roman Catholic church with my mom's family from 7 years of age up rarely missing mass. In those times, things were still in Latin. As time went on, I took private airplane lessons. Solo'd on my 10th hour of instruction at Lancaster County Airport. It was in a Grumman Trainer-100xxray. Then for a good while flew around enjoying my new found freedom in-- different Grumman trainers. I purchased 31/2-acres of property in the mountain's of Coudersport, Pa.-(Potter County), Served in the U.S Navy 1983-1987. then upon my return -- enlisted an additional year in the Airforce National Guard of Newcastle Delaware). I was married for what lasted the better part of 20 years. I cherish an afternoon with my 27 year old daughter. We have dinner in a restaurant, or go shopping.
