Mike Klaassen

Mike Klaassen is an American author whose work spans both fiction and nonfiction. When his sons were teenagers, he penned two young-adult action-adventure novels—The Brute and Cracks—written especially for boys who crave fast-paced stories with real stakes. A later visit to the site of the Battle of New Orleans rekindled his lifelong fascination with history and inspired Backlash: A War of 1812 Novel.

Guided by a passion for continuous learning, Mike immersed himself in the craft of storytelling, eventually producing a series of books for fiction writers. These works provide practical, insightful instruction and illuminate the techniques behind vivid, compelling narrative.

Blending his love of folklore with his dedication to fiction, he launched “Klaassen’s Classic Folktales,” a series of novellas that reimagine timeless stories for modern readers. Through these retellings, he brings new energy and accessibility to age-old tales, inviting readers of all ages to rediscover their enduring power.

In 2023, after retiring from a career in accounting, investing, and banking, Mike turned to writing full-time. The following year, he began developing his “Superpower Life Skills” self-improvement series, using iconic superheroes—such as Batman, Wonder Woman, and Captain America—as entertaining and inspiring examples of exemplary behavior.
