Ryan Forsythe

Ryan Forsythe is a writer, editor, teacher, artist, and dad. He studied creative writing at The Ohio State University, before traveling extensively, including working aboard a ship during a 100-day around-the-world voyage. For four years he and wife Kaci ran a hostel in Redwood National Park.

Ryan earned a MA degree in Teaching Writing at Humboldt State University and completed his MFA in Creative Writing at San Diego State University, where he served as Associate Editor with Fiction International. His books include "Dick Cheney Saves Paris: a personal and political madcap sci-fi meta- anti- novel," published by Love Earth Publications on 8/30/11 (the same day the world welcomed Cheney's own novel--er, memoir), and also "The Little Veal Cutlet That Couldn't," a children's book for adults.

In addition, his writing has appeared in A cappella Zoo, Bananafish, Escaping Elsewhere, Jersey Devil Press, Murky Fringe, NFG magazine, and several travel anthologies, including Rite of Passage: Tales of Backpacking 'Round Europe (from Lonely Planet), Italy from a Backpack, and Travelers Tales Turkey. In addition to winning Best in Show at the county fair, his "Slugdalas" (banana slug mandalas, of course) have appeared in Mandala Journal, Porter Gulch Review, and Toyon.

Originally from the electrified suburb of NE OH, Ryan now lives off-grid in the woods of SW OR.
