David R. Fisher

David Fisher is the Director of the Forensic Science Program at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Prior to joining NJIT, he worked as a forensic scientist in the Department of Forensic Biology at the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner. He has worked on thousands of criminal cases ranging from homicides, sexual assaults, and property crimes. David also assisted in the disaster recovery effort of the World Trade Center in the aftermath of 9/11. He is a court-qualified expert in the fields of forensic biology and DNA typing and has testified in trials and in the grand jury on numerous occasions. He is a co-author of two books, Techniques of Crime Scene Investigation and Forensics Demystified. Fisher is board certified by the American Board of Criminalistics and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

Fisher graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a BS in biochemistry and cell biology. He also received his MS in forensic science from the City University of New York's John Jay College of Criminal Justice. David lives with his wife and three children in New Jersey.
