Richard Brian Harvell

I was born and raised in North Carolina and was lucky enough to be a finalist for Best New Voice in the field of Juvenile Fiction for the prestigious Ben Franklin Award with my first novel for middle readers entitled "Adventures of the Book Battling Kids: The Carson Corners Chronicles" in 2005. I have written other titles in the middle reader/YA market as well: "The Water Girl", a YA ghost story set in the deep south at the end of the Civil War, "Backwoods Blood", centering on a family of half-human/half-plant cannibals in West Virginia, "Dark Spot Dalton", a mystery/thriller for children, and "Dust Dogs" concerns a girl traveling on the Oregon-California Trail who stumbles across a bizarre family living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
