Michael Zaretsky

Michael Zaretsky is an Architect and an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Department of Civil Engineering where he is directing the Architectural Engineering program. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His architectural practice, research and teaching all revolve around issues of public interest design, sustainable design and cultural context. He was the Director of the MetroLAB Design/Build program at the University of Cincinnati School of Architecture and Interior Design and as the Director of Design for the non-profit Village Life Outreach Project (VLOP), Inc. He has been working with VLOP to lead the Roche Health Center in rural Tanzania since 2008. His architectural practice experience includes firms in Copenhagen, Denmark, San Francisco, California and Seattle, Washington.
