Al Braden

Al Braden is an Austin, Texas based outdoor photographer. He studied with photographers Minor White (editor of Aperture) and Harold (Doc) Edgerton, inventor of the strobe and high speed photography, when he studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the late 1960s. Braden moved to Vermont in 1971 and New Hampshire in 1984, working in many capacities in graphic design, advertising, marketing, and offset printing. Work on his Connecticut River book began in 1998 when he traveled and explored the river extensively, often camping in the northern areas. In 2004, he moved to Austin, Texas, to pursue photography full time, and earned a BA in photo communications from St. Edward's University, Austin, completing work begun at MIT. His current projects include the Big Bend area and the Rio Grande/Rio Bavo.

His work has appeared in Yankee, National Geographic Kids, Woman's Day, Every Day with Rachael Ray, LensWork Extended, New Hampshire Magazine Calendar, Texas Highways, Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine, and other publications.
