Robert Butera

Bob Butera, MDiv, Phd first joined a yoga class in Taipei, Taiwan as a college student overseas in 1985. Further studies in meditation, yoga and personal growth in Japan led to an intensive one-on-one Yoga Therapy training at The Yoga Institute in Mumbai, India in 1989 at age 25. The understanding of the subtle aspects of yoga postures began from years of training in the ashram setting where the spirituality of yoga remains intact. Years of teaching while in graduate school, Bob completed a PhD dissertation in the field of Yoga Therapy and wrote, The Comprehensive Yoga Lifestyle Program for People Living with HIV/AIDS. Presently, Bob lives near his hometown in Devon, PA and leads the YogaLife Institute, trains Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists in the program, Comprehensive Yoga Therapy accredited by The Inter'l Assoc. of Yoga Therapists. He publishes Yoga Living magazine. 1000+ students have graduated the teacher's training course that prides itself on teaching Yoga as an entire lifestyle and on tailoring yoga pose programs to meet individual needs. For Bob, there is no best yoga or better yoga, it is discovering the practice that meets the individual's need. The Pure Heart of Yoga writing process began in journals from Bob's time in India and crystallized after 15 years of training instructors. The goal of the book is to empower you to learn more from your existing yoga class or to find a local teacher to help you along in your journey through life.

Meditation for Your Life, 2012, summarizes Bob's meditation courses that revolve around the student's disposition and needs. The book is a doorway into the meditation lifestyle and an aid for discovering the type of meditation best suited for you!

From the Comprehensive Yoga Therapy training flows a third book, Yoga Therapy for Stress and Anxiety, Septempber, 2015. See www.YogaLifeInstitute.com for lecture dates.
