Philip Shabecoff

Philip Shabecoff, born in the Bronx, was a reporter for The New York Times for over three decades, serving as a foreign correspondent in Europe and Asia, as White House during the Nixon and Ford administrations and, for his last 14 years with the paper, as its chief environmental correspondent. After leaving the paper, he founded and published Greenwire, the daily online environmental news report. He has written five books, one of which, A Fierce Green Fire, recently was the subject of a documentary film. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife. They have two children and five grandchildren.
