A Maryland native, Joan Baldwin met her co-author Anne Ackerson while working as a museum consultant, a friendship that led to a decade-long collaboration at the Museum Association of New York (MANY). During her tenure at MANY, Baldwin wrote three monographs (on mission, hiring and staff development as well as responsible relationship building for corporate philanthropy); white papers on next-generation leadership and succession planning. She is the principal writer for the blog Leadership Matters https://leadershipmatters1213.wordpress.com/.
