I was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Temple Hills, MD. From the age of about 11, I lived in a single parent home with my mother and 2 siblings. I myself became a single mother at 19 years of age. I had no idea of what I was in for. Becoming a mother completely changed my life. Because I was unprepared and so young, there were many hard lessons that I had to learn along my journey, mainly with my oldest child who is now 20. The lessons that I learned, I now apply with my youngest who is currently 13.
I started writing 'So You Want a Baby' in 2011. My children were 10 and 2 at the time. I decided to write it after a horrific event that I experienced with my daughter. At that point in time, I came to realize how my selfish actions affected my children and how I had deprived them. I began to allow God to change me and to show me a better way. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it. I now experience peace with being a mother. Not that everything is perfect, but now I have the wisdom of God to help me to navigate those difficult situations faced as a parent.
Because having a life of your own is important, I enjoy reading books, salsa dancing, and teaching fitness.
It is my sincerest desire that readers will gain the knowledge and insight that will prepare them for and/or aid in being the best parent possible so that their children will become healthy and happy adults.
