People have asked me, "Why do you write what you do?" My writing is meant to benefit others as well as express myself. Have you ever done something in your life thinking you understood exactly why you were doing it only to discover afterwards that there were reasons and forces at play you couldn't have comprehended earlier? Isn't it amazing how much better things turn out when we allow ourselves to trust and follow the flow?
My intention in college had been for a writing career. Several years later, intent on being a writer, I moved to the West Coast but spent 20 years in corporate business and management instead. Returning eventually to my love of writing, I later began crafting a freelance writing career which resulted in publication in national, trade, and regional publications.
After leaving a career as a hard-headed business manager, I had no intention of going to India - Indeed, I turned down a couple of offers, including a person who offered to pay for all my land fare expenses. Yet, when I finally agreed to go, my "hard-headed" veneer wore away and I became open to see more than the physical veneer of life around me. That three week trip to Rishikesh, India resulted in my writing India travel memoir, MOONLIGHT ON THE GANGA, available in both print and many e-book formats. That trip is a lesson in the potency of saying "yes" to new opportunities when offered as well as allowing Spirit to lead the way. As a result, many aspects of my life took off on different trajectories.
Years after that book's publication, I launched my sensuous spiritual poetry collection, LYING IN THE ARMS OF GOD: POEMS OF A SACRED ROMANCE. These poems came to me over several days while sitting on my deck during a warm northwest summer simply opening myself the ease and freedom to ponder how it would feel to be loved, to fall into the depths of Divine love. Within these poems desire, fear, confusion melt in a heat of ecstasy realized, touched, entitled in human form.
And now, in 2021, my third book is launched. THE ALLEGIANCE OF JESUS: WHY IS PEACE MISUNDERSTOOD? attests that peace is not merely misunderstood but is actually feared despite the blueprint that was illustrated by Jesus that we, too, could move as he did. Boldly asking, "Do you believe Jesus was serious or not?," ALLEGIANCE explores the empowerment peace provides for individuals and its transformative nature for the world. While this may be a challenging read for some, yet this book is written to awaken and inspire your soul's call.
