Elizabeth J. Meyer

Elizabeth J. Meyer is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education and program chair in Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice. She has been a classroom teacher, outdoor educator, and a Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program grantee. She has been involved in grassroots education and equity work in the U.S. and Canada for over 20 years. She completed her M.A. at the University of Colorado, Boulder and her Ph.D. in Education at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Dr. Meyer was an Assistant Professor of in the Department of Education at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec and in the School of Education at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California before joining the faculty at CU Boulder. Her work has been published in journals such as Educational Researcher, Gender and Education, McGill Journal of Education, Teachers College Record, Sex Education, Computers and Education, and The Journal of LGBT Youth. She also edited the book series, "Gender and Sexualities in Education" for Peter Lang publishing. She has contributed to several edited books including "Trans Studies in K-12 Education" (2022), "Queer Pedagogies: Theory, Praxis, Politics" (2019), and "The SAGE Handbook of Inclusion and Diversity in Education" (2019).

Dr. Meyer is a member of the Research Advisory Council and National Advisory Council for GLSEN (www.glsen.org). She engages in public scholarship and is available for media interviews and consulting.
