Bill Main

"Site Furnishings" is Bill's first book. It draws from his extensive experience in the site furniture industry as well as interviews with talented practitioners responsible for significant projects and from writings by urban and space design authorities. The book brings attention to an important subject but one that often flies below the radar and is learned most often by trial and error and word of mouth. Bill collaborated on the book with writer Gail Greet Hannah.

Bill is president of Landscape Forms, Inc. He joined Landscape Forms in 1985 in sales and marketing and went on to become general manager and then president in 1993.

In 2005 he was selected to be an Honorary Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, in recognition of significant achievements and notable service to the profession of landscape architecture.

He is currently a director of the Landscape Architecture Foundation. In 1996 and 1997 Mr. Main served as Chairman of the Scanlon Leadership Network. He also served on the Scanlon Board for many years. The Scanlon Leadership Network is a non-profit association of companies that have a corporate culture rooted in the Scanlon Principles of Identity, Participation, Competence, and Equity. Scanlon Principles have been helping Landscape Forms grow and prosper since they were adopted in 1981. He has also served on boards for other organizations, both corporate and non-profit.

Bill earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Michigan State University in 1975 and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Michigan State University in1980.
