David Platten

Having spent more years than I wanted to, teaching Economics & Political Science, then English Literature, and finally Outdoor Adventure Education, I took the redundancy money and ran. Now I wonder how I ever had time to go to work. When I'm not building little boats, sailing them around the beautiful Cornish coast, where I live, or walking our local moors, I'm sitting in front of the computer playing with words and ideas.

In the past, I have produced a couple of 'How To' books, published by David & Charles, contributed to 'Walkers's Britain' published by Pan, and written numerous articles for 'The Great Outdoors', 'Small Boat', 'Practical Boatowner', and 'Watercraft' magazines.

'The Isles of Mercy' is my first foray into fiction, and has proved so much fun that there's definitely more to come; the Ukay Archipelago is regenerating along some interesting lines...
