John Tomikel

John Tomikel was born on April 30, 1928 to immigrant parents from Slovakia. His father was a coal miner and his mother a domestic servent. John graduated from Clarion State College with a bachelors degree, then continued with an M Litt from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MS from Syracuse University and finally a PHD from the university of Pittsburgh. He was a high school teacher for twelve years. He began teaching environmental science at Edinboro University in 1963 and retired from college teaching in 2003 at age 75. John wrote an outdoor column for fourteen years for the Erie Morning News. John is the author of more than forty books on a variety of subjects, many on environmental subjects. His flights of fancy books include many adventure and romantic stories including five volumes in the detective Ann Morgan series. He traveled in Russia and has written two non-fiction works as well as two novels, "Surival in Stalin's Russia" and "The Incident at Natasovo and The Battle at Poltova." Many of his novels are laced with mysticism, romance and sex, even though based on research. Dr. Tomikel lives with his wife near Erie, Pennsylvania. His four children are scattered about.
