Anthony J. Bennett

Anthony J. Bennett holds a bachelors degree in History from Nottingham, as well as masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Essex in United States government and politics. He taught History and Politics at the ROYAL HOSPITAL SCHOOL, Ipswich, for 15 years before moving to CHARTERHOUSE, Godalming, where he taught American Politics until 2009.

He first published his Annual Update on American Politics in 1982 and from 2003-21 it was published by Philip Allan Updates (Hodder Education). In 2025, with co-author Simon Lemieux, he has relaunched his US Politics Annual Update published by Tricorn Books and available both through Amazon and Waterstones. It contains full coverage and analysis of the 2024 Presidential Election.

His best-selling A-level textbook was first published in 2004 and this reached its Fifth Edition in 2017. This was a completely revised book taking into account the new A-Level Politics specifications for first examining in June 2019. A new edition (badged by Pearson Edexcel) was published in 2021 and has now been fully revised and updated for publication in Spring-2025 with co-authors David Tuck and Simon Lemieux. This new edition includes coverage of the 2024 elections.

2013 saw the publication by Palgrave Macmillan of his two-volume work covering the U.S. presidential elections from 1980 to 2012: Volume 1 - The Race for the White House from Reagan to Clinton (February 2013), and Volume 2 - The Battle for the White House from Bush to Obama (October 2013).

Under the author name Tony Bennett, he published "But God . . . The Gospel In Two Words" with Day One Publications in 2017, with Volume 2 following in 2018. With the same publishers, he has published 'Through the Psalms' - a 4-volume devotional commentary on the Old Testament book of Psalms. Volumes 1-3 are already published with Volume 4 planned for 2025.
