James S. Dietz

Born 1940 in Washington, DC. Father a career naval office. Two sisters: Johanna and Margaret. Raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland and on a farm near Leesburg, Virginia. Lived for two years in Kamakura, Japan with family in the early 1950's. Attended three years at Christchurch School, Christchurch, Virginia and then four years at Brown University, Class of 1962. Spent most every summer and vacation at sea as a seaman or messman in the Atlantic and the Pacific from age 16 to age 21. After Brown taught for three years in Leesburg and in Falls Church, Virginia. After that, self employed all my life till retirement in 2010. Moved from Virginia to San Diego in 1976. Owned and operated the Baja Frame Company of San Diego for over a decade. After that till the present a dealer in vintage American movie posters and then French advertising posters. Spent much of the 1990's and into the 2000's in France buying posters. Owned a flat in Paris near the Bastille for over a dozen years. Wrote two books about posters and numerous articles. Married Marilu Remolina in 1964. Two children: James Steven Dietz and Maribel Dietz. Now married to Eleanor Jane Riles, a fine artist. Live winter and spring in Fort Lauderdale and summers in San Diego
