About the Author
Vivienne Stevenson is an Australian writer who grew up in rural Victoria. She travelled extensively before living and working in Japan for four years where, surrounded by an ancient and rich culture, the seed of this story first sprouted and took shape.
She has teaching, horticultural and landscaping qualifications, as well as a background in martial arts and meditation – all of which are reflected throughout the story.
When not writing, Vivienne is a traveler, a seeker of treasures in Oriental countries and an enthusiast for old gardens and architecture. She is also an investor and a butler to three cats!
Vivienne now lives in Queensland, Australia.
Author’s Notes
The whole world knows that peace is priceless. In a world where much focus goes toward killing and warfare, I wanted to write a simple yet inspirational tale.
The writing of BLACK BAMBOO has been a long journey. It is my first novel, though the outline was started long ago. For fifteen years it was forgotten, then dusted off and brought to completion.
The story is an encouragement of sorts; a reminder for us all to sit in silence and be at peace with our own existence. This is something often missing from the smorgasbord of spiritual teachings and busy lifestyles of today.
