Michael New

Michael New is an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) database administrator (DBA) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Certified Architect Professional with over 30 years of IT experience and nearly 100 Oracle technology implementations to his credit across diverse industries. After receiving his B.S. from M.I.T. in Aeronautics and Astronautics, he was employed as a software engineer for six years, principally on the GPS satellite program at Rockwell Corporation. He then made the leap from engineering to IT, and for the past 25 years has worked as an Oracle DBA.

Michael began his DBA career as a full-time Oracle Applications DBA for a financial services company, moved into consulting with an Oracle preferred partner, then for Oracle Consulting Services (OCS). Along the way, he founded and ran Arc DBA Consulting (formerly New DBA Solutions) for 13 years. He has served in a wide range of IT roles, including Enterprise/Solutions Architect, Technical Lead, Practice Manager, Delivery Consultant and Course Developer/Trainer. He helps customers design, deploy, upgrade, migrate, tune, troubleshoot and monitor Oracle databases and applications on-premises and in the cloud, and migrate them to the Oracle Cloud. Michael has implemented most Oracle database-related technologies including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, Audit Vault and Database Firewall (AVDF), and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), in which he is a recognized authority.

Michael lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
