As far back as she can recall Robin has loved reading and writing. "When I was little I would hide several books under my blankets each night to keep me company. I would use the sliver of light that came through my door from the hallway to read what I could. I would worry that my parents would discover my "friends" when they would tuck me in and take my beloved books away. My mom says now that I must have had "cat eyes" because I would read in the dark. So though they knew they allowed me my reading time before drifting off to sleep."

Robin describes herself as a "journal junkie", often keeping as many as six to ten or more journals afloat at any given time. Typically they've been regular, prayer, gardening, pet, comfort, gratitude, writing journals and the like. She knew that God wanted her to write but didn't know what it was that she was to write. Her stories for this first book (and now she is working on her second as well as magazine articles) have risen from her journals, especially her prayer journal. "While working on this book I prayed over every aspect of it from how the stories were to be written to the title to the cover design and everything in between. This is God's book, not mine. I wanted it to be God's words, God's message, not mine. There were times when I would sit down and begin to work only to find it a struggle. After a while I would realize that I had forgotten to pray first and had left God out of it! Once I prayed the work session would go much smoother."
