Lorne MacDonald

Prior to accepting a full time teaching position at the College of San Mateo, I had worked for a number of companies, the most notable being Bell Canada, Pacific Semiconductors, Lenkurt Electric, Ampex and Lockheed Space and missiles, the latter three located in Silicon Valley.

When I began my teaching career in 1968, there were few books dealing with the analysis or design of transistor circuits and amplifiers. So I began by supplementing my classes with notes which I first used for a thesis and eventually for my first book on amplifier circuits, which was published in 1975 by The Technical Education Press. Then over the next twenty five years, I wrote six or more Engineering Technology books, plus editions. Then repeated the same process to write an engineering book completed in 2001, but never published. Then in retirement I wrote several short stories and a novel that I called "Roses is Red".
