Mark Thompson has had a Zelig-like working life ranging from freelance french horn player, public reference librarian, corporate information researcher, writer, and business owner (Knowledge Resources). He is powerless over his creativity as the key slogan for A.R.T.S. claims. Based in New Jersey, United States, Mark manages his time currently in culling wisdom from his various creative adventures. Mr. Thompson has 40 years of experience as a librarian and researcher spanning many arenas: corporate (Hoffmann LaRoche; Dow Jones & Co.), academic (Fairleigh Dickinson Univ.; Bergen Community College), and public (Morristown Public Library). He also founded his own information research firm (Knowledge Resources). In addition, he had jobs in the Bell System, specifically in AT&T, Bellcore, and Bell Labs.
Mr. Thompson enjoyed many years of his avocation -- professional french horn player. His performing career spanned NJ, PA, OH, and NY. His teachers have been Joseph Singer, New York Philharmonic and Forrest Standley, Pittsburgh Symphony. His wife, Joan, is a retired piano teacher and professional folk dancer. Mark has also used his creativity to grow and craft gourds including bird houses and canteens, which have sold around the world.
His creativity has also spanned the world of gourd crafting. The squash-family plant that once dried is very hard has been used for various useful tools and containers for millenium. He wrote a book about gourd history and the bottle gourd. He sells his gourd canteens and gourd birdhouses on ETSY.
