Eric L. Fredrickson

I am a native of Federal Way, WA, which is located between Seattle and Tacoma. In 1981, I traveled all the way to South Bend, Indiana to attend the University of Notre Dame. It was there at Notre Dame that I had the good fortune to meet a young woman who would later become my wife. I went to Notre Dame on a ROTC scholarship, so after graduation I went to Germany and was an officer in the 1st Armored Division 281 Red Lions. Eventually we wound up in Houston, Texas -- her home town, and settled into residence for the next twenty or so years. While working on my master's degree at the University of Houston, I got a grad student job researching the Houston Bar Association. This project evolved into my master's thesis, and then into the published history of the Houston Bar. After that, like many aspiring historians with limited career prospects, I was encouraged to go to law school and take up that profession, which is what I did. For the past seventeen years I have worked in Houston, Montgomery County, and sometimes in the nearby counties, as a family law attorney. I help folks navigate the daunting and emotionally draining path through the family legal system. I hope I have helped make the process a little easier.
