Steven Hackbarth

Steven has served as youth softball coach, tennis coach, scout leader, and political campaign worker. Since 1994 he works as a computer specialist teacher in New York City Board of Education, Primary Schools 6 and 116 in Manhattan. In 1977 - 1991 he was a director of office of student services and adjunct faculty member in department of policy, planning, and administration in the University of Southern California. Moreover, he is a consultant to UNICEF since 1992.

Steven received Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at California State University in 1967 and a Master of Arts in Psychology. At UCLA he earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Education (1976) and was awarded medal "For Distinguished Service.". In 1984 he earned Master of Science in instructional technology at University Southern California, and after that he earned a Master of Arts in special and elementary education at New York University in 1995.

Achievements include researching changes in computer literacy as a function of race and gender, developing rational for discipline-based inquiry learning, documenting of current practice in math and science education, articulating in Lancet strategies for reaching currently unreached populations with health and education services, researching distructive influences of radical constructivism, and designing curriculum and web site about internet safety for kids.
