Dean McIntyre grew up in New York in a pastor's family, studied piano early, was a church organist and pianist beginning at age 12. BA in Organ Performance (CSUSB), MA in Post Secondary Music Ed (Eastern New Mexico), PhD in Fine Arts (Texas Tech). Taught university courses in Music History, Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Hymnology, and served churches as organist, pianist, choir director, and minister of music most of his life. Served 16 years at The United Methodist General Board of Discipleship as the denomination's Director of Music Resources. He is the author, editor, or compiler of ten books in the general area of church music, and has composed and arranged numerous musical works for choir, solo, organ, piano, handbells, and more. Now retired and living in Nashville, TN, McIntyre is an avid reader and social media enthusiast.
